Escapist to the Country was born from a simple daydream that many of us share — what if we left it all behind and moved to the French countryside? What if mornings began with fresh bread from the village boulangerie, and evenings ended watching the sun set over stone walls and rolling fields?
Since 2019, we've been turning that daydream into something tangible. Every day, we search through hundreds of property listings across France to find the ones with real soul — the converted barns with exposed oak beams, the village houses with walled gardens, the hillside farms with views that stop you mid-sentence.
We're not estate agents, and we don't sell houses. What we do is curate. We find the properties that tell a story, photograph beautifully, and offer genuine value — whether that's a two-bedroom cottage in Lot-et-Garonne for under €100,000 or a restored manor house in Provence.
But we know that buying a home in France is about far more than the property itself. That's why we also share practical resources — guides to the buying process, insights on the different regions, visa and residency information, and honest advice about what life in rural France is really like.
